Overview
The senior accountant will perform tasks related to verification of documents records relating to payments, reconciliations, general ledger accounts, trial balance etc. Check daily coding and posting of transactions to the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers. Ensure monthly adjustments, tax declarations, accruals, depreciation, amortization etc are accounted properly and timely. Checks correctness of daily cash collection, deposit report, and credit sales invoices, and codes same.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Checks the timeliness and correctness of bank reconciliation statements; agrees month end balance of memorandum bank book with bank general ledger account balance;
- Check the correctness of cash, general ledger account balance with balance carried; forward according to the month end cash collection and deposit report;
- Check the accounting records with particular emphasis on stock levels, collection of debts, and settlement of financial obligations;
- Checks daily entries on journal vouchers for accruals and deferrals;
- Follows-up daily bank debit and credit advises;
- Check the orderly clearance of payables and receivables;
- Check the correctness of petty cash payment vouchers;
- Check the correctness of the update made on the fixed asset register;
- Ensure the timely finalization of unrecorded and not posted accounts;
- Check unclear suspense advances made from petty cash at the time of float replenishment;
- Check the delivery order memorandum register to ensure that all goods delivered have been properly invoiced and follows-up on any un invoiced deliveries;
- Check monthly goods transit account and follows-up with supplies department on the reasons for orders which have been in transit for unreasonably longtime;
- Verify monthly trial balances and reviews ledger accounts for correctness;
- Review, and if necessary, assists with the reconciliation and adjustment of transaction;
- Verify that taxes and insurance payments and collection are handled on time, verifies that insurance claims are submitted in respect of all missing/damaged goods and checks correctness of claim computational;
- Check the correctness of tax and pension reports;
- Verify the records of letter of credit in the letter of credit memorandum register, examines the goods received memorandum register to ensure that all goods received have been recorded in the financial accounts;
- Check the Reconciliation of monthly totals of subsidiary ledger balances with general ledger balances and the preparation of general ledger trial balance;
- Actively participate in the preparation of monthly bases accurate and timely reports about profit & loss
- Check the correctness and completeness of preparation of vouchers, invoices, receipts and other documents
- Check the calculation of periodical tax and pension payments and makes follow- up on the timely settlement

Education
- BA in Accounting/Finance/ Financial Management/ Business Administration and other related disciplines.
Related Work Experience
- 6 years related work experience
Other Competency Requirements
- Peachtree accounting or appropriate accounting software knowledge
Note: Experience in the Oil & Gas Industry is preferable.
